AEIM will participate in the next General Assembly of the ETTF (European Timber Trade Federation) to be held in Amsterdam on 23 June.

Representatives of the European Timber Trade Federations of the following countries will take part in this General Assembly: Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Denmark and The Netherlands

In addition to reviewing the market situation of the different member countries, regarding softwoods, hardwoods and tropical timber, the Assembly will review the implementation of the EUTR in Europe. In particular there will be an exchange of information on topics such as:

– Inspections and sanctions in EU member countries.

– Criteria of  Competent Authorities (CA) regarding inspections and sanctions

– Harmonization of Due Diligence systems among European countries.

– Actual role of Monitoring Organisations related to Due Diligence Systems.

Furthermore, in this Assembly, AEIM will report on the risk assessment review with respect to Brazil, according to the update of its Due Diligence System.

Other topics to be addressed at the meeting are:

– Website Project www. Boistropicaux, to promote the legal and sustainable consumption of tropical timber.

– The situation in Myanmar with regard to teak and common proposal for actions.
